The University is extremely happy to see the progress made by the Department of Sanskrit under the able leadership of Dr. Krishnanath Chatterji, who is not only a scholar of front rank in the country, but an excellent academic administrator, as well. The entire Department presents the spectacle of a well-knit house, the members whereof are eager to expand academic activities and enrich the stock of human knowledge. The Department is presently bringing out a Journal containing the writings of its members and other external experts, The entire exercise is meant to raise the academic standard in the University.
I wish the Department all success in this venture and I hope other Teaching Departments will come forward with similar proposals so that the academic standards of the University are raised as a whole.
