About the Author GHANA SHYAM RAJKARNIKAR M.A. (Economics) is the first among the Nepalese businessmen to utilize his extracurricular experiences and impressions gained during his visit abroad in connection with business and other pursuits to jot them down to share with his fellow countrymen and others with a view to, among others, develop mutual understanding among the people in the world. This Endeavour, he believes, is tantamount to contribute building up international understanding for world peace. I hope' he has written 'this attempt will help create an atmosphere conducive to create understanding among the people of the world created by the one and the same God." No other compatriot has ever shared his views as frankly as he for the welfare of the mankind.

Foreword Ghana Shyam Rajkarnikar is a name widely known as one of the few justly acclaimed authors of travel accounts in Nepalese literature. He has to his credit so far four volumes of such accounts-three devoted solely to his travels abroad and the other including journeys inside his country.

These works have been reprinted numerous times, and an English version of thirteen of these accounts-all of them about his travel East and West-has come out for the wider readership.

Travel, of course, whether in or out of one's own country, is a source of pleasure, and on certain occasion a thought-provoking experience, to describe which requires a skill in rendering it vividly, as much as for the narrator himself as to the reader. Mr. Rajkarnikar has his skill to an admirable extent: he constantly exhibits a keen perception throughout his works.

Thanks to his English volume, it is hoped that people in other lands will now be able to share the experiences and impressions of a Nepalese traveller in some of their lands.
