Book Description
From the CD

‘A Family That Prays Together Stays Together’.

In a world that is increasingly getting westernized, a need is felt more than ever to draw our children back into the sphere of Indian ‘samskaras’. Even so, thanks to resurgence of spirituality among Hindus not only in India but also all over the world, we are discovering the power and potency of our ancient mantras, shloka and prarthanas.

Children in their formative and most impressionable years can be trained while still young. We can inculcate in them a reverence for our ancient culture, an aspiration to live up to it, and a correct understanding of the deeper implications of life. Moreover, it is a scientifically proven fact that the recitation of certain mantras is known to have the power to sharpen the intellect, rectify certain speech defects and improve mental and intellectual faculties on the whole. Most importantly, it has been proved over the years that prayers have the powers to root out psychological fears in children that are still very young. On a more subconscious level, it instills in the child a sense of pride and belonging to the glorious heritage of our religion.

Starting from the Gayatri mantra involving the grace of the powerful sun, we go on to the other shlokas to be chanted at specific times of the day and night, addressed to the Guru, and various Gods and Goddesses who have the power to touch our lives.

Naman is an attempt to instill in our children, age-old morals and values that have held the Hindu society together despite all odds. A collection of mantras specifically for children, it endeavours to lay the right foundation for the over all growth of the child.
