Dr. Vartika Nanda's domain expertise lies in journalism - its teaching, practice and training. She is a prison reforms activist and a media educator. With a Doctorate in Journalism and over two decades of experience in electronic and print media, she is the Head of the Department of Journalism in Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University. She has taught TV journalism earlier at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi as Associate Professor. She has held various journalistic assignments in electronic media including Zee News, NDTV and Lok Sabha TV. The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Stree Shakti Puraskar on her in 2014 for her contribution in creating awareness on women's issues through media and literature. Her name got a mention in the Limca Book of Records twice for her special contribution towards prison reforms.
