About the Book

The tradition of religion propelled theatre is very old, traces of which find even in aboriginal tribal societies.
Bharata in his Natya Shastra says: The Gods are never so pleased on being worshipped with scents and garlands, as they are delighted with the performance of drama.
All over the world we find drama had its origin in religion, its rituals and festivals.
This book does not speak about religion but about attitude of different religions of India, positive and negative, their dramatic rituals and festivals. It is essentially about theatre. Because art do not preach, it uphelds higher truths of life.
And theatre is art.
