Dr. Chitra Sharma is born and brought up in Bangalore.
Dr. Chitra Sharma, a retired teacher has written several books in English and Kannada. She has travelled extensively and worked in several schools and finally joined Sri Saraswati Bhuvan Education Society, Aurangabad. She taught English mainly and has deep interest for languages and social sciences.
She has actively conducted Poetry Circle, Aurangabad and edited books published from it. She is associated with Lokmat Times group of Newspapers. She is the 'Life Member for American Study Centre, Mumbai. Her books are published from D. K. Publishers, Delhi, Kavyalaya, Mysore and S. S. Printers, Bangalore.
She takes delight in discourses rendered by His Holiness Bharati Teertha, Swami Rama, J.Krishna Murthy, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Devakinandan Thakur, Brahmashree Koteswara Rao, Brahmashree Shanmukha Sharma and Garikipati Narasimha Rao. She was assigned to talk on Acharya Shankara; His impact and relevance in the present day, consequently for six years at Shankar Mutt, Kolar organized by Shankara Seva Sangha Trust, Fort, Kolar.
Presently she lives in two places Aurangabad and Bangalore. Her family consists of her husband, son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. Her daughter and son-in-law with little Abhinav are in Pittsburgh, USA. The entire family members are the devotees of Sringeri Sharada Peetham and Sri Sringeri Shivganga Sharada Peetham.
