Preface The present study on the Soliga of the Biligiri Rangana Hills, Mysore, was sponsored by the Anthropological Survey of India as part of the programme of conducting ethnographic studies on various tribes in South India. The fieldwork for the present study was undertaken between February and July, 1965. The report is presented in the form of a detailed monographic study comprising ten chapters broadly covering the various aspects of the life of the Soliga.
