Foreword
Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Research and Study Centre of C.K.B. College, Teok was established in the year 2022. The centre, recognized by the Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva University, launched a one year Diploma Course in Sankaradeva Studies in 2023. The centre is sincerely working to popularize the works and philosophy of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva. In this endeavour, the centre is receiving valuable support from Dibrugarh University, Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva University and Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha of Assam.
Although the centre operates with limited resources, it places strong emphasis on highlighting the scholars and organizations dedicated to advancing the teachings of the great saint, Srimanta Sankaradeva. Keeping in view of this, the centre started a project in the year 2023 on the great Vaishnava scholar, warrior of the downtrodden classes and neglected castes, Sonaram Chutia. It is not an easy task to estimate such a multidimensional personality who fought for the neglected castes and classes incessantly through the Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha and due to his untiring effort, Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha become one of the most powerful religious organizations of India.
The Sangha emerged as a very strong organization and platform for those whom Srimanta Sankaradeva elevated to a position of equality. To implement the project on Sonaram Chutia, the MSSRSC of the college formed a coordination committee with eminent scholars, Vice-Chancellors of Dibrugarh University and Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva University, Padadhikar and Secretary of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha of Assam and Governing Body President of the college. It was decided to publish the project work in a Book.
