Prof. M N Chandra Shekhara was born In September 26, 1948 at Mathoor, a village renowned for Vedic culture and Sanskrita, in Shivamogga Dist. A student of Yajurveda, he was trained in chanting Vedic mantras and their practical applications, viz Shodasha Samskaras etc., under his revered brother, Ve. Br. Markandeya Avadhani. Completing his master's degree in Samskrita from Bangalore University, he served as Prof. of Sanskrit at Sri Satya Sai College, Sheshadripuram College.
Chandra Shekhara has been imparting Sanskrit education and conducting classes in spoken Sanskrit, Vedic chanting and Bhagavad Gita besides stotras at the MP Birla Foundation at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Aksharam and some Sai Centres. In the London Kendra of Bhavan, he delivered several lectures on topics related to Indian culture.
He has directed many Sanskrit plays like Shakuntalam, Sakshishila, Bhaja Govindam, Dheera Nachiketas etc for Doordarshan, and Akashavani He has guided numerous Havans aiming at universal welfare like Atirudra, Navagraha, Rama Taraka and Ganapathi at Ananda Kananam, the Ashram of Priyamvada Birlaji, Shirdi Sai Centre, Shankara Math and in Mathoor.
Besides serving Bharatiya Shikshana Mandal as its president for 5 years, he has cut several cassettes on Vedic Mantras and Gita under the patronage of Smt.Priyamvada Birla, Smt/Sri Kejriwal, Gurumurthy Reddy and Padma Shree awardee Dr.Mathoor Krishnamurti.
