About The DVD-ROM

Born in Hungary, Elizabeth Sass Brunner and Elizabeth Brunner, mother and daughter, arrived India in 1930. Attracted by the magnificence and variety of the Indian people, their philosophy and art, they became part of the India. They travelled various places and painted different aspects of India and world. They became a source of inspiration for the young and contemporary artists.

An interactive multimedia DVD-ROM on Life and Work of Padmashree Elizabeth Brunner and Elizabeth Sass Brunner titled “Two Pilgrims” was developed by the IGNCA to promote awareness of historical and cultural linkages between India and the world through artistic expressions of its people. Brunners’ paintings include landscapes, portraits, Himalayan scenes, nature, flowering trees, village life, sculptures and a number of symbolic and visionary paintings. The DVD includes a multimedia database of about 2130 paintings, short biography, selected photographs and letters, exhibition catalogues and invitation cards with moments and memories (captured in audiovisual) of these 20th century Hungarian painters who lived in India for over seventy years.
