The short, cupped wings of this hawk allow it to reach a high speed in a very short time. Then, on set wings, it bullets through the trees and underbush at speeds of upto 35 miles (56 kilometers) per hour.
The Goshawk is distributed right around the Northern Hemisphere, roughly between latitudes 35 N and 65 N. It is mainly a bird of the trees, being equally at home in both deciduous and coniferous woodland.
