This tiny portrait belongs to a Hindu dignitary as it evident by the tilak that he wears on his forehead. From within the turban, the tail emerges, which is symbolic of a Brahmin. His face is in full profile, while the body is in three-quarter profile. The long straight nose is one of the prominent features, under which a long moustache grows; shadow of beard covers the chin and the jaw. His jama is stiffly tied under the left shoulder topped with strands of pearls. By painting a halo around the head of every portrait, the artist pleased the patron.
The colours used are very subdued. The turban is literally the bright spot. Though it is evidently a Hindu portrait, but evidently again, Mughal aesthetic canons are adopted to lend grace to the portrait.
