Trimukha Deepams, or three-wicked lights, are thought to bring offspring. During Shanti Homa rituals, they are lit. The three wicks at the end of this brass lamp are typical of aarti lamps. It has an elaborate handle with a depiction of a coiled vine on it, which was inspired by the decoration on the legendary Salabhanjikas of Hoysala temples. Apart from these identifications, the major feature of the lamp is the image of a Naga at the intersection of the handle and the light. The Naga image bestows children and spiritual benefits on the light. The two birds accompanying Naga's picture further cement the theme of expansion and fertility, as parrots are Kama Deva's heavenly vehicle.

An Emblem of Divine Protection and Auspicious Beginnings

This exquisite handcrafted brass puja lamp is more than just a source of light; it is a conduit to the divine, steeped in rich cultural and mythological significance. The lamp's design is a testament to the artistry of Indian craftsmanship, where each detail is imbued with meaning. The centerpiece, a majestic serpent motif, evokes powerful symbolism across various traditions. In Hinduism, serpents, particularly the Naga kings, are revered as guardians of the earth's treasures, controllers of the underworld, and bestowers of fertility and rain. They are often depicted as divine beings, protectors of deities like Lord Shiva, who wears a cobra as an ornament, and Vishnu, who rests upon the cosmic serpent Shesha. The presence of the serpent in this lamp is believed to offer protection from negative energies and bring forth prosperity and well-being.

Intricate Artistry and Symbolic Resonance

The serpent's form is masterfully rendered, its scales and coils detailed with precision, suggesting movement and power. Flanking the serpent are stylized avian figures, perhaps representing Garuda, the divine eagle-like mount of Vishnu, known for its antagonistic relationship with snakes and its ability to overcome obstacles. This interplay of serpent and bird can symbolize the triumph of good over evil, or the balance of opposing forces in the universe. The entire lamp is adorned with intricate scrolling patterns and floral motifs, characteristic of traditional Indian decorative arts, adding to its aesthetic grandeur and spiritual depth. The craftsmanship highlights the skilled hands of artisans who have passed down these techniques through generations, ensuring the preservation of this sacred art form.

Illuminating Your Sacred Space

This multi-wicked lamp is designed for the lighting of diyas, which are essential in Hindu rituals, prayers, and festivals. The flickering flames symbolize knowledge, purity, and the dispelling of darkness, both literal and metaphorical. Lighting lamps during puja is an act of devotion, an offering to the deities, and a means to invite divine blessings into one's home or place of worship. The three distinct cups are perfectly sized to hold ghee or oil for a sustained and beautiful flame, creating an ambiance of peace and spiritual connection. Whether used during daily prayers, specific ceremonies, or special occasions like Diwali, this lamp will undoubtedly elevate the sacredness of your rituals. Its substantial brass construction ensures durability and a timeless appeal, making it a cherished heirloom for years to come. This piece is not merely an object of utility but a work of art that connects the user to ancient traditions and spiritual aspirations.
