Auspicious Beginnings

Invite the benevolent presence of Lord Ganesha into your home with this exquisitely crafted brass statue. Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity, holds a place of paramount importance in the Hindu pantheon. He is revered as the remover of obstacles, the god of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. Before any new endeavor or undertaking, devotees invoke Ganesha's blessings, seeking his guidance and protection to ensure success and smooth progress. This practice underscores the belief in Ganesha's ability to clear hurdles and pave the way for positive outcomes.

Craftsmanship and Detail

This meticulously detailed statue captures the essence of Ganesha's divine form. Crafted from brass, its surfaces are adorned with beautiful inlay work using what appear to be turquoise, lapis lazuli and coral color stones that bring vibrancy and a touch of elegance. The statue is a testament to the skill and artistry of traditional craftsmanship, intended to showcase beauty and faith. The statue showcases Ganesha seated in a posture of relaxed composure. Each of his four arms holds symbolic objects that represent different aspects of his divine powers: An axe to cut bonds of attachment, and a noose which symbolizes his ability to gently guide people through adversity. He holds a sweet in his hand, signifying the sweetness of inner fulfillment. His fourth hand is held open in an open palm position, showing his blessings to all.

Ganesha's Lore

The mythology surrounding Lord Ganesha is rich with captivating stories. One popular tale recounts his birth and how he acquired his elephant head. According to legend, Parvati, Shiva's consort, created Ganesha from the dirt of her own body to guard the entrance to her private chambers. When Shiva returned and was denied entry by the unfamiliar Ganesha, a fierce battle ensued. In a fit of rage, Shiva severed Ganesha's head. Parvati was inconsolable, and Shiva, realizing his mistake, promised to restore Ganesha to life. He instructed his followers to bring him the head of the first living being they encountered facing north. They returned with the head of an elephant, which Shiva then attached to Ganesha's body, bringing him back to life. This tale illustrates Ganesha's unique origin and the power of divine intervention.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
