This three-headed image of Brahma, carved in green stone, presents the creator deity in a form that is both iconographically precise and sculpturally refined. The choice of green is especially resonant. In Indian aesthetic thought, green is associated with fertility, growth, renewal, and the generative principle of nature.

As Brahma embodies srishti, the act of creation itself, the verdant tonality of the stone becomes conceptually aligned with his cosmic function. The natural variations within the green surface lend the figure a living vitality, suggesting the pulse of manifest existence.

The three visible heads represent Brahma’s all-encompassing knowledge of the three realms and the three dimensions of time: past, present, and future. Traditionally four-headed, the fourth is implied beyond sight, reinforcing the deity’s omniscience.

Each face is delicately carved with lowered eyelids and a composed expression that conveys contemplative wisdom rather than dramatic power. The finely incised beard and moustache articulate maturity and authority. The crowns rise in tiered architectural forms, intricately detailed with beaded bands and vegetal motifs, echoing temple superstructures. A carved floral aureole frames the heads, signifying the radiance of creative consciousness.

Seated in a composed cross-legged asana, Brahma’s posture conveys stability and meditative equilibrium. His four hands hold traditional attributes associated with creation and sacred knowledge, including the rosary that marks cyclical time and disciplined recitation, and the water pot symbolizing the primordial waters from which creation emerges.

The bodily modeling is full and balanced, with softly rounded contours that emphasize generative abundance. The inverted lotus pedestal beneath him reinforces purity arising from cosmic waters. Richly carved ornaments and drapery further anchor the sculpture within classical Indian iconographic canons, uniting metaphysical symbolism with material artistry.
