Lord of Beginnings

Ganesha, also known as Ganapati and Vinayaka, is one of the best-known and most widely worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. His image is found throughout India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Nepal. Hindu denominations worship him regardless of affiliations. Devotion to Ganesha is widely diffused and extends to Jains, Buddhists, and beyond. Although he is known by many attributes, Ganesha's elephant head makes him particularly easy to identify. Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. As the god of beginnings, he is honoured at the start of rites and ceremonies. Ganesha is also invoked as Patron of Letters and Learning during writing sessions. Several texts relate mythological anecdotes associated with him.

The Symbolism of Form

This stunning statue depicts Ganesha in a seated posture, radiating serenity and wisdom. He is "Chaturbhuja," meaning he possesses four arms, each holding symbolic objects that represent his divine powers and attributes. In one hand, he holds a "parashu" (axe), which represents the cutting away of desires and attachments. This symbolizes the destruction of negative forces and the clearing of obstacles on the spiritual path. Another hand holds a "modak," a sweet dumpling that signifies the sweetness of realizing the divine self and the rewards of spiritual practice. The third hand shows the "abhaya mudra," a gesture of reassurance and protection, signifying the granting of blessings to his devotees. The final hand holds a "pasha" (noose) which represents his ability to bind and remove obstacles and negative influences that hinder one's spiritual progress.

Craftsmanship and Detail

Meticulously crafted from brass, this statue showcases the talent and skill of master artisans. The intricate inlay work, featuring colourful semi-precious stones, highlights the divine form of Ganesha. Each carefully placed stone adds a touch of vibrancy and elegance, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the sculpture. The statue’s large size lends it an imposing presence, making it a captivating focal point in any space. The brass construction ensures longevity, allowing this sacred representation of Ganesha to be treasured for generations. The fine detailing, from the folds of his garments to the serene expression on his face, captures the essence of Ganesha's divine nature. Displaying this statue in your home or office not only enhances the aesthetic environment but also invites the blessings of prosperity, wisdom, and success.
