The Large Size Peacock Lamp with Hanging Bells and Ghungaroos, a magnificent creation in brass, is a harmonious blend of a Mayil Vilakku (peacock lamp) and Vriksha Villaku (tree lamp). This stunning piece comprises four layers of uniquely shaped lamps, each adorned with melodious bells, creating an enchanting symphony during worship. Crowning this grand ensemble is an exquisite peacock, its resplendent tail unfurled in a graceful dance. It bites a symbolic branch signifying growth, connected to three more lamps embellished with bells.

A chhatri or umbrella shelters the peacock, its elegance enhanced by the jingling ghungroos. Stylized parrots embellish the mid-section of each layer, while a Singha (lion face) graces the base, and images of Lord Ganesha add a divine touch just above the lowest layer of lamps. This lamp is a true masterpiece, radiating artistry and spirituality in every detail.

A Symphony of Light and Sound: The Majestic Peacock Lamp

This magnificent brass lamp is more than just a source of light; it is a testament to the artistry and spiritual depth of Indian craftsmanship. Standing tall and commanding, it evokes a sense of grandeur and devotion, making it a truly captivating centerpiece for any sacred space or elegant home. The lamp's design is intricately woven with cultural and mythological significance, bringing a touch of ancient wisdom and divine presence into your environment.

The Symbolism of the Peacock and Its Echoes in Mythology

The peacock, a creature of breathtaking beauty and regal bearing, holds a revered place in Indian culture and mythology. It is often associated with divinity, immortality, and the celestial realms. In Hindu mythology, the peacock is the vahana (mount) of Lord Kartikeya, the god of war, representing courage and victory. Its resplendent plumage is believed to have been a gift from Lord Indra, the king of the gods. The peacock’s association with beauty and grace also connects it to Goddess Saraswati, the patron of arts and knowledge. The presence of a peacock motif in this lamp imbues it with a sense of auspiciousness and divine favor, transforming it into a conduit for blessings and positive energy. The numerous bells, known as ghungaroos, further amplify this spiritual resonance. Their gentle chiming is said to ward off evil spirits and invite auspiciousness, creating a harmonious ambiance.

A Heritage of Craftsmanship: Handmade Brass Artistry

Each element of this grand lamp is meticulously handcrafted from brass by skilled artisans in India, carrying forward a tradition passed down through generations. The rich golden hue of the brass, when lit, casts a warm and inviting glow, enhancing the intricate detailing. The lamps are designed to hold multiple oil wicks, allowing for a brilliant illumination that can fill a room with its radiant light. The detailed carvings on the peacock itself, from its elegantly curved neck to the fanned tail feathers, showcase the artisan's dedication to capturing the bird's natural splendor. The tiered structure, adorned with delicate hanging bells, further adds to its visual appeal and auditory charm. This lamp is not merely an object but a piece of art that speaks volumes about the rich heritage of Indian metalwork. Its substantial size and weight underscore its quality and make it a truly impressive statement piece.

An Emblem of Auspiciousness and Devotion

This peacock lamp is ideally suited for use in puja rooms, temples, or as a striking decorative item in living spaces. It can be used during festivals, prayers, or simply to create an atmosphere of serenity and spiritual upliftment. The sound of the ghungaroos, when a gentle breeze passes, or even during the act of lighting, adds a meditative quality to its presence. This lamp serves as a powerful reminder of the divine, a beacon of light and a source of soothing sounds that can transform any space into a sanctuary of peace and devotion. Its creation is a labor of love, a fusion of art, spirituality, and tradition, making it a unique and cherished addition to any collection.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
