Also known as Venkanna, Balaji, and Lord of the Seven Hills, Lord Venkateshwara is the supreme Lord. There is no parallel to Venkatachalam and there is no God equal to Venkateswara either in the past or in the future. Tirupati Balaji is called Kaliyuga Varada which means the wish-fulfilling Lord of Kaliyuga. His eyes are covered as it is said that his gaze is so powerful that it would scorch the universe. In his upper hands, Balaji carries the Sudarshan, a symbol of his cosmic authority and Shankha (Conch Shell), a symbol of existence. His lower right hand extends in Varada Mudra, bestowing boons upon the faithful, while the left beckons devotees to surrender, inviting them into the protective embrace of faith.

Clad in regal vestments, adorned with a Karanda Mukut crown and resplendent jewellery, Tirupati Balaji, bedecked with a cascade of flowers, symbolises the divine fusion of grace and majesty—an eternal promise of salvation. Cast in brass, this gorgeous creation beckons mortals to surrender, promising protection and cosmic solace in the embrace of divine splendour.

A Manifestation of Divine Grace

This meticulously crafted brass statue depicts Lord Venkateshwara, also revered as Srinivasa, Balaji, or Venkatachalapati. This depiction captures the essence of the deity who is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu himself, descended to Earth during the Kali Yuga to guide and protect humanity. Lord Venkateshwara is primarily worshipped at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, which stands as one of the richest and most visited places of worship in the world. The statue showcases the traditional iconography of Venkateshwara. He stands adorned with elaborate jewelry, embodying the opulence and prosperity associated with him. His two upper hands hold the Sudarshana Chakra (discus) and the Panchajanya (conch shell), representing Vishnu's divine power to maintain cosmic order and overcome evil. The right hand, often depicted in a blessing posture known as Varada Mudra, signifies the granting of wishes. The left hand is typically shown pointing downwards, inviting devotees to surrender to the divine and seek refuge in his grace. The statue’s intricate details highlight the divine serenity emanating from the deity’s face and form.

Legends and the Sacred Hills

The mythology surrounding Venkateshwara is rich and varied. One prevalent tale explains his presence at Tirumala. It is believed that during a dispute between the deities, Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva sent sage Bhrigu to determine who was the most supreme. Bhrigu, known for his short temper, kicked Vishnu on his chest. Lakshmi, Vishnu’s consort, felt humiliated by this act and left Vaikuntha, Vishnu's abode. Vishnu, in turn, descended to earth in search of Lakshmi and settled on the Venkata hills, unaware of Lakshmi's whereabouts. Lakshmi, realizing her mistake, eventually reconciled with Vishnu, and they reside together on the Venkata hills to this day. The seven hills of Tirumala are also believed to represent the seven heads of Adisesha, the serpent on which Vishnu rests in the cosmic ocean. Devotees flock to Tirumala with offerings and prayers, seeking Lord Venkateshwara's blessings for prosperity, health, and spiritual well-being. Crafted from solid brass, this 6.0 x 3.0 x 1.8 inch statue emanates durability and elegance, and serves not only as a beautiful decorative piece but also as a sacred representation of divine grace, prosperity, and protection. Place it in your home or sacred space as a reminder of the Lord's benevolent presence and unwavering support.
