8" Tribal Kalash Design Incense Burner/Storage Box in Brass

$190
Includes any tariffs and taxes

Dhokra, also known as bell metal craft, is a traditional art form practised by Ojha metal smiths in areas like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Telangana. The ancient Dhokra process created this Tribal Kalash-style incense burner or storage box. It has a green patina appearance and an old-world charm. The container is large and deep, and it may be used as a jewellery box. The presence of delicate lines, typical of Dhokra artefacts, adds to the box's attractiveness. The Kalash structure on top of the box, together with designs akin to Amra Pallav or mango leaves, give this box a holy image and make it an ideal object for ceremonial areas.

An Echo of Ancient Rituals and Enduring Craftsmanship

This magnificent brass incense burner and storage box is more than just an object; it is a vessel of history, echoing centuries of spiritual practice and artistic dedication. Crafted from high-quality brass, its intricate design speaks of a time when artistry and devotion were intrinsically linked, transforming everyday objects into sacred conduits. The aged patina on the metal hints at its potential journey, carrying with it the whispers of rituals performed and secrets held.

The Divine Bloom of Design

The form of this burner draws inspiration from the Kalash, a potent symbol in many South Asian cultures. In Hinduism, the Kalash is often depicted overflowing with water, leaves, and fruits, representing abundance, fertility, and the auspicious beginnings. It is a vessel of life and purity, often used in religious ceremonies to invoke blessings and ward off negativity. This interpretation elevates the Kalash from a simple container to a representation of cosmic order and divine generosity. The delicate, woven texture that adorns its surface, reminiscent of traditional basketry, further enhances its artisanal appeal, suggesting a mindful creation process where every detail was considered.

A Sacred Space for Fragrance and Cherished Items

The upper section of this piece is designed to cradle incense, allowing the fragrant smoke to curl and ascend, carrying prayers and intentions to the heavens. The meticulously crafted lid, topped with a loop for easy opening, ensures that the aromatic essence is released gradually, creating an atmosphere of peace and contemplation. Below, the substantial base serves as a discreet storage compartment. This dual functionality makes it an ideal piece for housing precious mementos, aromatic herbs, or even small devotional items. Its secure clasp promises to keep your treasures safe, while its striking presence ensures it will be a focal point in any sacred space or living area.

A Testament to Tribal Artistry

The robust structure and detailed patterning of this piece are characteristic of the rich tribal art traditions. These communities, often deeply connected to nature and ancestral lore, imbue their creations with a spiritual resonance. The geometric patterns and the overall form suggest a narrative, a visual language passed down through generations, telling stories of resilience, community, and a profound connection to the divine. This incense burner is not merely decorative; it is a functional artifact that bridges the gap between the practical and the spiritual, the ancient and the contemporary, offering a tangible link to a vibrant cultural heritage. Its imposing yet elegant stature makes it a commanding presence, inviting a sense of calm and reverence into your home.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
