Flame-Scarlet Phulkari Dupatta from Punjab with Multicolor Geometric Patterns and Beaded Zari Border

$95

Originating from Punjab, the term phulkari means floral work that was traditionally done on Khaddar fabric whereas now the embroidery is done on varied fabrics like Chiffon, Silk, Chanderi, and Georgette. There are numerous theories surrounding this form of art, one of them being that the phulkari needlework initially came from Iran and came to be known as Gulkari whereas both the art forms have prominent differences. The craftsmen embroidered plenty of motifs on the dupatta from animals, and flowers, and the most common amongst them is the motif of a peacock. Peacock is considered to be an epitome of strength, beauty, and divinity and is known to attract auspiciousness. The multi-colored piece of clothing in the picture has been shown as an exact visualization of how a phulkari dupatta is. Being supported by additional mirror work, the phulkari dupatta is perfectly depicting the beauty of traditional embroidery through it. To let this magnificent piece of clothing shine its way through, pair it with a plain salwar suit. Earlier the availability of only a few colors was there whereas, with the new fashion wave, the phulkari embroidery has been revamped with the variety of colored threads being used to do the embroidery wherein you can look through the pictures of how many colored threads are used in the dupatta. You have to zoom in and appreciate the beauty of this lasting dupatta.
