Plum-Purple Baluchari Sari from Bengal with Zari-Woven Scenes from the Mahabharata

$375
Baluchari saris originated in Bengal and are known for hand-woven depictions of mythological scenes on the sari body.

Pallu of this sari is divided in 5 panels, each panel portraying a scene from The Mahabharata. In one Arjuna is seeking blessings of lord Krishna and another portrays a battle where Krishna is protecting Arjuna. The sari border illustrates an episode of Draupadi meeting with Krishna. Across the solid-coloured field of the saree is a plethora of gold booties, woven into the fabric. The purple colour of saree with gold and orange thread coloured weave is irresistible.

This particular saree is perfect for evening wear. You can team this up with statement jewellery and you are ready to rock. Matching blouse piece is woven into the sari fabric.
