Can Durga Idol Be Gifted? Auspicious Meanings, Occasions & Traditions
Goddess Durga in India and beyond is the iconic divine feminine. She is the origin of the universe and the guardian who saves it from evil forces. The biggest celebration in honor of Maa Durga is the Navaratri- the 9-day-long festival celebrated twice a year as Chaitra (Vasanteeya) and Sharadeeya Navaratri. A central part of the Navaratri Puja is the idol of goddess Durga- the awe-striking sculptures worshipped in Durga Puja Pandals all over India, as well as the small statues of Maa Durga worshipped and established at homes. It is certainly the most auspicious thing to welcome a Durga statue into your home during the Navaratri festival, with rituals, festivity, and family. However, many wonder- can we gift an idol of goddess Durga to someone? In this blog, we look at this common question and the tradition and beliefs around gift giving in India, as well as things to remember if you are gifting a goddess Durga murti to your family or friends.

How to Place Ram Darbar at Home: Vastu Tips & Ritual Guide
Rama, surrounded by his subjects, with Lakshmana the embodiment of brotherly love, devotion, and valour, Sita- goddess Lakshmi on earth, and Hanuman seated near his feet or in the gesture of Namaskara, is the ultimate vision of royalty, auspiciousness, and balance in the universe. The Rama Darbar statue, in short, is the symbol of Rama-rajya, the perfect state, where happiness, virtue, and abundance live along. Thus, it is natural that many Hindu homes worship the Ram Darbar murti during Ram Navami, Diwali, or as the Ishta devata idol regularly. The statue is usually a collection of free-standing idols of Rama, Lakshman, Sita, and Hanuman, which are gathered in the Puja ghar. Keeping a Ram Darbar murti in your home is a prayer to the Lord of Ayodhya to establish his rule over your life and bless your life with his presence.

Can I Gift a Shiva Idol to Someone? Understanding the Meaning Behind the Gesture
Gifting is a simple way of showing care and affection across the world, and India is no different. As a culturally rich society, India looks at gifting as a transfer of blessings, joy, intent, and energy. This is the reason why statues of gods and goddesses are one of the most commonly exchanged gifts. For weddings, birthdays, Griha Pravesh (moving into a home), or festivals, the idols of deities make for a thoughtful gift. While the gesture is meaningful, many have questions about the type of statues that one can gift. A common question is- can I gift a Shiva idol to someone? And unsurprisingly, the answer is yes. However, there are certain things to be kept in mind, such as gifting it to the right person, with the right intent, and to be sure that the statue is made with the right material, if you are planning on gifting a statue of Shiva to a loved one.

Parashurama: The Warrior Sage and the Sixth Avatar of Vishnu
Parashuram- “parashu”- ax, Ram with an ax, is a warrior-asetic, a unique combination of austerity and valor, worshipped as the sixth incarnation of Vishnu, among the Dashavatara tradition. His devotees see him as a revered Brahmana, a protector of Dharma, and a Chiranjeevi (immortal) who remains on the earth throughout the rise and fall of Yugas. Parashuram was born as the son of the rishi Jamadagni and his wife Renuka. He was given the name “Rama”, and later, as he received the Parashu or ax from Shiva, he came to be known as Parashuram. He was the youngest of the five sons of his parents, the other four being Rukmavan, Suhotra (Sushen), Vasu, and Vishwavasu. In the Vishnu Purana, Parashuram is said to have a wife named Dharani (literally- she who carries, an incarnation of Lakshmi).
