How is it that Sri Aurobindo and the Mother have not produced a single saint as other great manifestations of God have always done? There was no answer to this oft-asked question till Champaklal emerged from his self-imposed - divinely ordained? - exile from the profane gaze of the curious public. To those who watched him from a distance he was a karmayogi whose every moment was consecrated to the service of his divine Parents. To those who came a little closer, his flashes of wisdom were like rapier thrusts of a direct knowledge which comes only when one is highly evolved. Few knew of his psychic spontaneities and spiritual capacities of enlargement of consciousness. It is only as he has allowed himself to be drawn into an expanding wider circle of humanity that he has emerged as a saint exuding Love, as a guide to the perplexed, as a source of strength to the weak. The full saga of this embodiment of the Mother's Love is yet to be told. But a beginning has been made in this direction with this monography by Dr. Madhusudan Reddy who has been blessed with fortunate closeness to the saint, both physically and spiritually. Here is a detailed account of the back-ground and the circumstances that launched Champaklal on the great Quest. How he came to Sri Aurobindo, how he was chosen by the Mother for a precious mission, how he never had a personal aim for salvation but always an incessant aspiration to serve the Masters and those who sought their Feet, is told with an immediacy of appeal in these pages. His continuing tours all over the world reaching the balm of soothing Love to an aching mankind are narrated in detail. A particularly significant section deals with the Visions of Champaklal which give the reader a glimpse into the glorious Future that is being shaped for Earth in the subtler regions of the Spirit. This well-documented story is going to be an important part of contemporary history of spiritual India.
