Book Description
About The Book

Dive into the rich tapestry of Cultural Perspectives on Health and Healing Practices with this compelling book that unveils the research findings on the Siddi and Halakki Vokkalu communities in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. This study, a culmination of extensive fieldwork, sheds light on the intricate dynamics of health and healing practices within these communities. The author employs traditional anthropological techniques, employing a meticulous blend of interviews and participant observation to extract valuable insights. Readers are taken on a captivating journey through the cultural nuances and societal intricacies that shape the health and healing practices of these communities. This book serves as a significant contribution to the understanding of cultural diversity and its impact on healthcare, making it an essential addition to anyone interested in anthropology, cultural studies or the evolving dynamics of healthcare practices in diverse communities.

Notably, the Siddi community, officially recognized as a Scheduled Tribe in 2003, takes center stage in this exploration.
