पुस्तक परिचय इन्सानी रिश्तों को गहराई से देखने, परखने और एक नये और खूबसूरत अन्दाज़ से पेश करने में 'ख़याल' ने अपनी एक अलग पहचान बनायी है। अपनी जाती काविशों को अपने से बाहर निकल कर देखने और उनके हवाले से जीवन का सच उजागर करने का हौसला भी उसमें है। यह सच है कि 'खयाल' की शायरी एक उलझन-भरी जाती रूमानियत की धुरी पर घूमती नजर आती है, लेकिन दरअसल उसकी फिक्र रूमान तक ही सीमित नहीं है। वह अपने इर्द-गिर्द की ज़िदगी, उसकी विकृतियों, विसंगतियों, भीड़, संत्रास, और प्रकृति के साथ हो रही ज़ियादतियों से नानाक्फि नहीं हैं है, और रिवायत तोड़ कर गैर-शायराना क़िस्म के मौजूं पर भी शेर कहने से कतराते नहीं। मशहूर शायर डॉ. बशीर बद्र का कहना है कि "ख़याल ग़ज़ल के मंजे हुए शायर हैं और उनकी शायराना सलाहिय तें ऊरूज पर होती हैं तो गंजल की ज़बान में ऐसे इजाफे कर जाते हैं जिन्हें अहले-दिल और अहले नज़र नज़र अन्दाज नहीं कर सकते।"

लेखक परिचय अगस्त, 1946 में मोतीहारी, बिहार में जनमे 'ख़याल' सिंहवाड़ा (दरभंगा), बिहार के निवासी है। पटना कॉलेज से स्नातक और दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय से स्नातकोत्तर (इतिहास) शिक्षा प्राप्ति के बाद 'ख़याल' ठाकुर ने 1967 से 1970 तक भगत सिंह कॉलेज, नयी दिल्ली में अध्यापन कार्य किया। 1970 में प्रतियोगी परीक्षा के माध्यम से भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा में नियुक्त हुए और संप्रति नई दिल्ली में मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय के शिक्षा विभाग में संयुक्त सचिव हैं। 'खयाल' अपने मूल नाम से हिन्दी कविताएं और 'खयाल' तखल्लुस से उर्दू गज़लें लिखते हैं। आप की कविताओं का एक संकलन 'टूटा हुआ पुल' (1982) तथा गजलों का संकलन 'रात गये' (1989) प्रकाशित हो चुके हैं।

मेरी बात 'रात गये' के बाद 'धूप तितली फूल' मेरी ग़ज़लों का दूसरा संकलन है । इस में मेरी कोई पैतीस ग़ज़लें शामिल हैं। ये तमाम ग़ज़लें 1989 की कही हुई हैं आधी से कुछ ज़ियादा अजमेर में रहते हुए और बाकी जयपुर में । हाँ, 'धूप तितली फूल' में मैंने 1982 से '89 के बीच की लिखी हुई कुछ नज़्में भी शामिल की है, जबकि 'रात गये' में सिर्फ ग़ज़लें ही थीं । 'रात गये' और 'धूप तितली फूल' में एक बड़ा फर्क यह भी है कि यह किताब 'रात गये' की तरह देवनागरी और उर्दू लिपियों में एक ही जिल्द में शाये न होकर उर्दू लिपि में पहले बज़्में-मआनी, अजमेर से और उसके बाद देवनागरी में भारतीय ज्ञानपीठ से प्रकाशित हो रही है। 'रात गये' वाले प्रयोग को जहाँ एक ओर कई लोगों ने बहुत सराहा, वहीं ज़ियादातर लोगों ने यह तनकीद की कि दोनों ही लिपियों के पढ़नेवालों के लिए किताब की कीमत बेवजह दुगुनी हो गयी। आम राय को मद्देनज़र रखते हुए 'धूप तितली फूल' उर्दू और देवनागरी में अलग-अलग शाये की जा रही है। जैसा कि मैंने 'रात गये' के मुकद्दमे (भूमिका) में लिखा था, अपनी ग़ज़लें और नज़्में बहुत आसान और आमफहम किस्म की उर्दू जिसे गंगा-जमुनी तहज़ीब की नुमाइन्दा ज़बान भी कहा जा सकता है में ही लिखता हूँ । 'टूटा हुआ पुल' से 'रात गये' और 'रात गये' से 'धूप तितली फूल' तक के सफर और तज्सवात ने मेरे इस शक् को यकीन में तब्दील कर दिया है कि आमफहम ज़बान में लिखना मेरी मजबूरी है लेकिन यह मजबूरी मेरी ताकत भी हो सकती है। क्योंकि यह रोज़मर्रा बोलचाल की हिन्दोस्तानी ज़बान ही मुझे शायरी पसन्द करनेवालों के आम आदमी से जोड़ती है।
