Anupama is an officer of the Indian Forest Service. She belongs to the West Bengal cadre. Anupama is from a Patiala-based Sikh family but was born in Dehradun and raised in Hyderabad. Greatly influenced by the rich diversity of India, she is fluent in seven languages; Hindi, English, Punjabi, Bengali, Telugu, Urdu and Sanskrit.
Anupama has always been passionate about the outdoors and the Indian Forest Service gave her the perfect opportunity to combine her passion wih her profession. She has a doctorate in biotechnology which has led her to specialise in GIS and mapping, remote sensing, UAVs/Drones apart from planning and management of forest dwellings for people and wildlife.
The breadth of her work encompasses research in the laboratory on gel electrophoresis to DNA fingerprinting and protein profiling. She has published extensively in research journals and is equally at home writing forest management plans deep in the jungles of Bengal.
This is her first book. The protagonist's name, Sandyy, is inspired by her pet Chihuahua.
