Dr. Bimal Chhajer MBBS, MD, Heart Care & Lifestyle Expert, is one of the pioneers and one of the most popular names in the field of Non Invasive Cardiology in India and abroad. He is the founder of Saaol (Science and Art of Living) Heart Center - the largest of the non-invasive clinics all over the world. He completed his MBBS from Kolkata in 1986, MD from Lucknow and worked in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi for six years. In 1995, he resigned from the AIIMS as a faculty member and started Saaol.
He is opposed to the concept of Bypass Surgery or Angioplasty and trains people on lifestyle change along with optimum medical drug therapy. He runs ECP clinics in more than 30 cities of India, Nepal and Bangladesh. His books and DVDs on heart care are bestsellers and his ""Zero Oil Cooking"" is very popular in India. He has authored about 100 books. Many of his books have been translated into 9 languages. He has received numerous awards and has treated more than 50,000 heart patients successfully without Bypass Surgery/Angioplasty.
My exposure to the science of Cardiology has been much different from most of the physicians or cardiologists treating heart patients. I developed a complete faith on the modern medical system during my 5 years graduation in a medical college (MBBS degree) in Kolkata, India.
But then at the age of 25 years (after a particular incident which changed my life) my faith in the prevailing system of modern medicine took a big beating - when I realised that the whole department of cardiology is working in the wrong direction - the system was going against the well-being of the patients. Instead of removing the cause of the disease every cardiologist was trying to solve the disease temporarily by medicines, angioplasty or Bypass surgery. The patients were not aware of what has caused the heart problem (their bad food habits, smoking, lack of exercise, stress and so on) and they would keep on growing the disease suffer from more angina or ultimately heart attacks. The prevailing cardiologists, I found, were over enthusiastic to treat them as an emergency patient threatening them of death unless they undergo operative procedures like Bypass surgery or Angioplasty. Those heart patients who have less angina were prescribed only medicine - without any education on heart care by lifestyle modification.
