I am deeply grateful to the National Book Trust for asking me to write a book on the person and contributions of Hakim Ajmal Khan. Mashil al-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan is an eminent personality in our Indian national history. He was not only a distinguished member of a venerable family, but he was also famous for his medical expertise, his medical status, and as a leading voice in the Indian freedom movement. He enjoyed extraordinary fame for his tireless work for Hindu-Muslim unity.
During his life, he became a legend, and people were eager to know about him. On his personality and his works, numerous books have been published. Those who wrote his biographies are considered distinguished writers of Urdu. But in these books, one particular aspect of his life was highlighted. In some books, his involvement in politics, his medical expertise, his reputed family background, and some highlighted personal encounters. The result is that this does not encompass his entire personality.
In this biography, we have not only benefited from all those previous books on his life but have also deduced some conclusions with new points and compiled them with new references. I am hopeful that a study of this biography by our new generation will introduce them to our national hero's personality and achievements. They will come to know how our national history is decorated with numerous humanists who were totally dedicated, entrenched in national service, and holders of superior values, & lenoite ad of tulstory v In keeping with the tradition of the National Book Trust, translations of this tome in various national.
