I take immense pleasure in writing this foreword for the second volume of ICON, the journal of National Museum Institute.
It has already been emphasised by me in the last volume that the publications are the backbone of any academic institution engaged in teaching and research. The ICON shall open avenue for the teachers and the students to give vent to their ideas, observations and findings in respect of their research work in their respective fields. I am sure this will generate an interaction with the outside world. Therefore it is my wish that ICON should come out regularly and in time.
As I understand that the present volume incorporates several interesting papers exploring new horizons in the realm of art-history, conservation and museology. It is useful to publicise the ongoing activities of the institute outside, so that the academic community get acquainted with our contribution in the relevant areas of teaching and research. I am sure that, in course of time, ICON shall be identified with NMI and shall represent as the symbol of our continuing progress.
