Book Description
About the Book
Advances in science and technology have not only altered the way we live, work, travel and communicate, but have also phenomenally affected the economic and social structures, human attitudes, health, politics and belief systems among others. While this has benefitted us in innumerable ways, it has also brought with it new challenges.

While looking at the history and development of the scientific revolution, the book not only discusses its impact on mankind, but also the promises and problems that it has brought in its wake.

Preface
The course of human history has been powerfully affected by several factors, some of them destructive and others beneficial. Chief among the destructive factors have been wars, epidemics, natural disasters and famines. To illustrate how such factors seriously affect the course of history two examples of pestilence can be cited. The Black Death, the outbreak of plague in Europe during the years 1347 to 1350, wiped out about one-third of the population of the continent in these three short years. It took Europe a full century to limp back to normalcy.
