Preface
The journey towards building a developed and self-reliant India, or "Viksit Bharat," by 2047 is not just an economic or technological pursuit; it is a quest to rediscover, reinterpret, and reintegrate our rich cultural and intellectual heritage into the contemporary discourse. As we approach the centenary of India's independence, there is a growing recognition of the need to ransack the deep oceans of our indigenous knowledge system an amalgamation of our ancient wisdom, sciences, philosophies, arts, and sustainable practices that have evolved over millennia. This ambitious project, Indian Knowledge System in Shaping Viksit Bharat@2047, aims to delve into the multifaceted Indian Knowledge System (IKS) and its relevance in shaping a future that is not only economically prosperous but also culturally enriched and socially inclusive. The Indian Knowledge System encompasses a wide range of disciplines-from Ayurveda, Yoga, and Vastu Shastra to our traditional agricultural practices, linguistic diversity, educational philosophies, and governance models. It is a testament to India's holistic worldview that integrates spirituality, science, ethics, and practical wisdom. The IKS is not merely a relic of the past but a dynamic and evolving body of knowledge that can offer solutions to many of the contemporary challenges we face today, including sustainability, wellness, education, and social harmony. With the world increasingly looking towards more sustainable and human-centric development models, India's ancient knowledge traditions offer a treasure trove of insights that can guide us towards a more balanced and inclusive future.
