The Art of Living Foundation, initiated in 1982 has a presence in over 140 countries worldwide. As a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), the Art of Living Foundation works in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, participating in a variety of committees and activities related to health and conflict resolution around the world. Furthermore, the Art of living carries out its own projects for the promotion of health and social development in various countries.

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a spiritual leader and humanitarian, was born in 1956 in southern India. He was often found deep in meditation as a child. At the age of four, he astonished his teachers by reciting the Bhagavad Gita.

To globalise the knowledge of learning a happy, stress-free life, H. H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar established an international educational and humanitarian NGO – The Art of Living, in 1982. Today, with a presence in over 140 countries, the Art of Living is one of the largest voluntary organizations in the world.
