Preface
As food, shelter, clothing is indispensable for survival, so is communication for human beings. Language is the most potent means among various forms of communication. We express our emotions and feelings and the most complex ideas through Language, which are otherwise not possible to convey. Language is, in fact, the greatest gift of God to Human Beings. No other species except human beings has been blessed with Language. The book comprises of five chapters. In the first Chapter, the focus lies on the importance of Language, characteristics and functions of Language.

Language is not simply a means of communicating ideas, feelings, and emotions, but it also plays an indispensable role in establishing and maintaining social relations; hence, it is an imminent part of society's social structure and value system. Likewise, Language is a symbol of identity and group membership. Our accent and choice of words are indicative of our identity.
