Introduction
Swami Vivekananda, a key figure in propagating the ideas of Vedanta and Yoga, stressed on the importance of looking inward in meditation. In this book, he focuses on its spiritual aspect which is aimed at enlightenment.
Meditation has been used as a spiritual practice by various religions across the world to achieve self-realisation. It is also believed to bring one closer to God. Though the methods used for meditation may be different the ultimate goal of self-realisation remains the same.
The fast-paced lives we lead today can be trying for those who worry about the present and the future, with little patience to deal with frustrations in everyday life. Practising meditation brings peace of mind. While it is best to learn how to do it under the guidance of a teacher who has immersed themselves in the practice for a significant amount of time, not all would be able to find someone to teach them.
