Preface

Very few people know much about the nature. Although it is the fortune only of few to know much about the nature at first hand, every one of us is linked to it in strange and wonderful way. Nature is unique and endowed with varieties of biotic and aboitic elements which are naturally independent and maintain a natural balance among them- selves. Nature is many faceted and has several wonders in its womb. It is much difficult to know and predict about nature, its phenomenas, wonders and calamities. When, where and how nature caused disas- trous impact on living beings in way of floods, droughts, earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, avalanche, erosion, mass movements as well as callapses of dams, dykes, bridges, mines and building etc. no body knows?

Agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy it is one of the oldest and most important occupation of man and was adopted for survival and feeding of living beings. Agriculture means cultivation of crops, domestication of plants and cattle raising Thus origin of agriculture dates back of the beginning of domestication of plants and animals. It is not yet known when, where and how the domestication of agriculture, animals and plants was started. Apart from intensive livestock raising or crop production by hydroponics it involves management of soil by tillage or by chemical treatment.

Nature and agriculture are closely related with each other in an agriculturally predominant country like India. The agricultural plan if supplemented by local survey taking into consideration of natural influence of the particular area, may help in raising the agricultural products. Considering the dominant agrarian base of the locality/region, an acute need was felt to discuss and highlight the salient features of the nature which are mainly responsible to influence human life and cultivation of crops.
