Book Description
About the Book
A Personal Narrative of Thirteen Years Service Amongst the Wild Tribes of Khoudistan For the Suppression of Human Sacrifice" by John Campbell (1864) recounts Campbell's 13-year mission to suppress human sacrifice among the tribes of Khoudistan. The book provides a detailed exploration of the customs, traditions, and beliefs of these tribes, known for their practice of human sacrifice. Campbell shares his interactions with the tribes, efforts to understand their culture, and attempts to persuade them to abandon the ritual. The narrative offers insights into the mid-19th-century political and social landscape of the region, detailing Campbell's encounters with local rulers, British officials, and challenges faced in promoting progress amidst deeply entrenched traditions.
