The story of the interaction of two of the greatest Indians of modern times is as fascinating as it is uplifting, and while the context of their interaction has passed into history, the story itself has an enduring relevance and lasting value. It comprises, most importantly, the letters and telegrams exchanged between the two men, articles written by Rabindranath in the Modern Review and by Mahatama Gandhi in Young India as well as their press statements on particular issues; a number of letters written by them to friends like C. F. Andrews form very much a part of the story, interwoven with the history of India’s freedom struggle.
