As per the popular saying, 'Cricket is a religion in India and Sachin Tendulkar is considered to be the God'. The above-mentioned quote coming from the 'God' himself sums up the importance of this quadrennial event perfectly.

This book is a humble effort to highlight the interesting facts and fundas about all the ICC Cricket World Cup, starting from 1975.

About the Author A Govt.-Employee by profession, Mr. Somnath Chanda is a knowledge- seeker to the core. He has started his journey to the fascinating world of quizzing during his school days. A regular and well- known face in the present quizzing circuit, he donned the hat of the Quiz Master for the very first time in the year 2005. Since then, he has conducted quizzes in different parts of India. After a book on India, this is his second venture to popularize the subject among the enthusiasts.

Foreword As an old Calcutta quizzer, I really enjoy keeping a tab on the competitions in my home city. And one of the most promising team in the last few years have been the Quiz Lovers of Kolkata. Somnatl Chanda is one of the stars of that team and has been a consisten performer in the open circuit.

Preface 25 June, 1983 was not just any date. It marked the date which changed the course of history of sports in India in a big way. When Kapil's Devils lifted the highly coveted silverware after beating the defending Champions - the Lloyd-led West Indians, it made the entire cricket community to sit up and notice the emergence of India from a contender to a champion. The mighty 'Goliath' had fallen. Seeing the performance of the 'David', an entire generation got a new direction in their lives. Every gully, mohalla, nukkad started to breed their own Kapils, Amarnaths and Gavaskars.
