The present volumes consists of a collection of 21 papers which were contributed to research journals and commemoration volume during the past decade. Though the subjects dealt with are varied their general field of studies pertain to Dharmasastra and related problems. Hence a general ttle is given to the present volume as Reflections on Dharmasastra. Smrtis and Dharmasastras are very much related in several as poets. They form the contral theme of Indian culture, and as such there essays will be useful for the appreciation of Indian culture.

I decided to collect together these papers as suggested by my teacher and guide Dr. N.P. Unni our former Vice Chancellor who gave substantial direction to the affairs of Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady kerala. I am indebted to him as also to others professors like prof. P.C. Muralimadhavan under whom I prepared a volume on Dattakamimamsa. It was he who asked me to edit the work of Godavarmaraja. I am indebted to these and many other teachers who have guided me in my research activities.

The present publisher has already published a book on the above subject. I am glad that he agreed to bring out this collection also.

Tam also grateful to my family members who supported me in my academic pursuits, including my beloved husband Shri P. Krishnakutty who retired form Guruvayur Devaswom serving as Deputy Administrator with humble prayers I dedicated the volume at the feet of the Lord of Guruvayur temple, my tutelary deity.
