लेखक परिचय डॉ. आर.एल. कश्यप जी अमरीका के इंडियाना राज्य, लाफायेट में स्थित पईयु यूनिवर्सिटी के इलेक्ट्रिकल एवं कंप्यूटर इंजीनियरिंग के ख्यातनाम प्राध्यापक रह चुके हैं। इन्होंने बेंगलुरु इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ साइन्स से स्नातकोत्तर उपाधि प्राप्त की तथा हार्वर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी से पीएच. डी. की उपाधि प्राप्त की। ये अनेक अंतरराष्ट्रीय पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित हैं। २००३ में इन्हें भारत सरकार के मानव संसाधन विकास विभाग के एक स्वशासी निकाय 'महर्षि सांदीपनि वेदविद्या प्रतिष्ठान (उज्जैन) ने 'वेदांग विद्वान' पुरस्कार से विभूषित किया। २०१२ में इन्हें कर्नाटक राज्य सरकार का पुरस्कार प्राप्त हुआ। डॉ. कश्यप जी को केन्द्र सरकार ने २०२१ का पद्मश्री प्रशस्ति से सम्मानित किया है। डॉ. कश्यप जी ने ३५० से भी अधिक शोध प्रबंध लिखे हैं, जिनमें से २२० विख्यात वैज्ञानिक पत्रिकाओं में प्रकाशित हुए हैं और शेष अन्यान्य सम्मेलनों में प्रस्तुत किये गए हैं। इन्होंने ५० से भी अधिक शोध छात्रों का डॉक्टरेट के लिए मार्गदर्शन किया है। डॉ. कश्यप जी ने वेदों पर प्रचुर लेखन किया है। उनके व्यापक रूप से पढ़े गए वेद संबंधित ग्रंथ एवं पुस्तकें हैं- 'ऋग्वेद संहिता' (१२ खंड), 'यजुर्वेद'- (४ खंड), 'साम वेद' (२ खंड), 'अथर्व वेद' (६ खंड) तथा 'व्हाय रीड ऋग्वेद', 'रुद्र मंत्रा', 'एसेन्शियल्स ऑफ़ ऋग्वेद', 'एसेन्शियल्स ऑफ़ यजुर्वेद', 'एसेन्शियल्स ऑफ़ साम वेद', 'वर्क, एन्जॉयमेंट एण्ड प्रोग्रेस' । डॉ. कश्यप जी संप्रति श्री अरोबिंदो कपाली शास्त्री इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ़ वैदिक कल्चर, बेंगलुरु के मानद निर्देशक हैं।

प्राक्कथन इस पुस्तक प्रकाशन की योजना के पीछे डॉ. कश्यप का एक बहुत ही अच्छा उद्देश्य था। वैसे आजकल बाज़ार में वेदसंबंधित पुस्तकों की बाढ़ सी आ गई है। पर उनमें आध्यात्मिक अनुभव और प्रज्ञा का अभाव ही दिखाई देता है। वे सब बुद्धिवादी दृष्टिकोण और आलोचनात्मक विश्लेषणात्मक पद्धति से लिखी होती हैं। वे वेदों को केवल साहित्यिक रचना या प्राचीन युग का पुनर्निर्माण करने का साधन मानते हैं। वेदों की भाषा का अध्ययन किया गया है। उनमें मिली ऐतिहासिक एवं सांस्कृतिक जानकारी को महत्त्व दिया गया है। उनके धार्मिक तथा आध्यात्मिक रूप को भी पहचाना गया है। पर वेदों के अत्यंत महत्त्वपूर्ण वैशिष्ट्य की ओर किसी का ध्यान नहीं गया है। वेद मूलतः रहस्यवादी दर्शन के सांकेतिक भाषा में लिखे गए प्रलेख, दस्तावेज़ हैं। वैदिक अध्ययन के इस पक्ष को अत्यधिक महत्त्व देने वाले आधुनिक विद्वान, दार्शनिक थे श्री अरोबिंदो और उनसे प्रभावित होकर वेदों की संस्कृत व्याख्या करने वाले ऋषितुल्य विद्वान टी.व्ही. कपालि शास्त्री। अंग्रेज़ी जानने वाले आधुनिक जगत को श्री अरोबिंदो और श्री कपालि शास्त्री जी का यह दृष्टिकोण समझाने का प्रयास डॉ. कश्यप, इस पुस्तक के द्वारा कर रहे हैं। श्री अरोबिंदो और श्री कपालि शास्त्री जी का यह दृष्टिकोण न केवल विशुद्ध भारतीय दृष्टिकोण है, बल्कि यह उन वैदिक ऋषियों के रहस्यवाद की पुष्टि भी करता है।
