The Sanskrit Poeticians on Kalidasa's Poetry is a completely different critical work in Sanskrit literary criticism. Mammațabhațța mentions the flaws in Kälidāsa's poetry in the seventh chapter of Kävyaprakasa, not just in a general way, but in a specific manner, exemplifying the defects in pada, väkya and padaikadeśa. Although the book mainly focuses on Kāvyaprakasa, a distinct feature is that it also discusses the negative critiques raised in the treatises of poeticians since Bharata. Only Mammața critically examined Kälidäsa's Dosas in such a detailed manner, even though later Alankarikas and poetic texts also mention flaws, albeit not to the same extent. The primary purpose of every treatise on aesthetic in Sanskrit is to search for the soul of poetry, and alongside this, topics like kāvyalaksana, kāvyaprabheda, and kävya guņas are discussed, as well as the transformation of flaws into excellences.
The book contains six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction. The second chapter, entitled "Poetic Flaws", deals with the treatment of dosas by Alańkārikas and the common similarities of flaws among poeticians. The third chapter, named "Poetic Flaws as Poetic Excellences", describes how some dosas can become gunas in certain changed conditions. The fourth chapter, "Comments on Kālidāsa's Poetic Flaws by Pre-Mammața Ālankārikas", discusses the dosas of Kälidāsa's verses illustrated by poeticians in their Doşaprakarana chapter. The fifth chapter, "Mammața on Kālidāsa' Poetry", deals with the dosas of Kālidāsa in the seventh chapter of Kāvyaprakāśa.
The last chapter is the conclusion. Along with discussing flaws, the book also examines in detail the common aspects and heterogeneities of the dosas mentioned by other rhetoricians.
