Book Description
About the Book
"Simplified Grammar of the Telugu Language" by Henry Morris is a concise, accessible guide to learning Telugu, a Dravidian language spoken in southern India. Published in the late 19th century, it offers clear explanations of Telugu grammar, syntax, and vocabulary, aiming to assist English-speaking students and colonial administrators in mastering the language for better communication and governance.

About the Author
Henry Morris (1829-1912) was a British civil servant and historian known for his extensive writings on Indian history. Serving in the Indian Civil Service, he authored several significant works, including "The Governors-General of India." Morris's contributions provided valuable insights into the colonial administration and historical events during British rule in India.

Preface
Just a few words may be considered necessary regarding the plan of the following brief Grammar. I have carefully read the late Professor Palmer's original Prospectus to this Series of Simplified Grammars, and have endeavoured faithfully to carry out his idea. I have diligently examined the structure of the Telugu language, and have tried to show how, to a considerable extent, what appear to us irregularities and peculiarities are merely euphonic changes which, in course of time, have become integral portions of the tongue. I have, however, endeavoured to make the work, as a whole, consistent and self-contained; and, with this purpose, I have thought it right to give a longer account of the verbs, and especially of the auxiliary verbs, than Professor Palmer intended, and I have given a tolerably full paradigm of a verb in all its parts, as I did not con-sider the grammar complete without it.
