Raga bhimpalasi is one of the most popular late afternoon rages. This raga is derived from Kafi Thaat. Its arohi and avarohi are S G N D P M G R S. The mood of the raga is compassion. The “karuna rasa” that the evokes relieves the physical and emotional stresses of a listener and brings about equanimity in their minds. Raga Bhimpalasi is a very versatile raga and is suitable for elaborate exposition in classical music format and for simple folk music, bhajan, film music ets.

A lilting melody from Kamaj Thaat, raga kalavathy is also a raga for late night. S G P D N S are the notes is both ascending and descending scale. Listening to this raga one descries a freely flowing river without turbulences or wild streams indicative of a mind that has just been relieved of a mental affliction or a mind just freed from doubts. The raga creates a sense of freedom in the listener’s minds.
