Introduction
A recent definition of 'health' by the World Health Organi sation states that man should be physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually well. Then only is he considered healthy. Allopaths have explored the physical body through naked eyes, microscopes, telescopes, electro-cardiography, and electro-encephalography and also ultrasonography. The mental and emotional parts of the body are very well studied by Homeopaths. But all the five-fold aspects of health are discussed in the VEDAS. What is meant by 'spirituality, which is mostly responsible for making the body healthy? Spirituality is the resolute pursuit of cosmic consciousness. It aims at enabling man to manifest, in all his fullness, the divine cosmic consciousness that is present within and outside him. A healthy mind has a healthy body. Look at the galaxy. The Sun, the Moon, the Earth and all the planets move around their own axes, and also around one another. Their movements are all governed by natural laws. They never try to break the laws. They are rhythmically and selflessly helping mankind. But man, on the contrary, breaks natural laws and causes harm to other species and the Earth; that is why man at disease is called 'diseased'. The spark of life comes from the universal Brahmam (pure formless consciousness), which acts as a lighthouse and enters into all living creatures: mankind, animal kingdom, vegetable kingdom and minerals. Essence is one, but intensity varies, The soul descends from the Divine, takes the form of a child, grows into young age, old age and then undergoes death. The further path leads to the Divine if a person is enlightened. with transcendental knowledge and practices nishkama karma (desireless action), bhakti (devotion to God), truth, hard earning and service to mankind, he is liberated.
