In 1980 1 developed and taught a sixty-part academic course within the Bhakta Program (Introductory Course in Applied Vedic Culture). This course was designed to give newcomers to Krishna consciousness a taste of the vast Vedic ocean of nectarean wisdom which awaited them. The course has been popular both with students and teachers up to the present day because it concentrates on many specific topics, giving a feeling of heightened comprehension.
The recently-inaugurated Rupanaga Vedic College for in-depth study of Vedic literature and culture, awards Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate of Divinity degrees. Therefore, it has become necessary to put the "Sixty-Part Course into a book form so that teachers and students can more readily cover the subject matters, thus Vedic Paradigm
Taking a bit of nectar from this flower and a bit from that flower, bees gather the ingredients for a sweet honeycomb. In a similar way, Vedic Paradigm discusses its sixty topics (from mystic powers to morality) taking excerpts from many bonafide writings. Vedic Paradigm is comprised primarily of words spoken directly (Le. through books, lectures, letters and conversations) by the founder acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Thirty-seven chapters are taken solely from his works. The remaining twenty-three chapters, while drawing generously from his work, also include writings from some of his disciples.
(please see "Literary Credits" at the back of the book) Although originally aimed at new students, Vedic Paradigm may also be of interest to others, both advanced practicioners of devotional service and the noncommittted.
I am grateful to those who graciously helped in this publication, although only a few will be mentioned here. The production manager was Vijnana dasa Adhikari, Arya-siddhanta dasa Adhikari and Candranana devi dasi. The Rupanuga Vedic College staff and students were of tremendous help especially Jnana-caksus dasa Brahmacari. Markandeya Rsi dasa, Bhakta Aaron Kraft and we received great support from Yamunacarya dasa Vanacari and Dhruvananda dasa Adhikari
In conclusion, we pray to be always engaged in the service of our beloved spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada who wrote us "Just try to understand. Approach Krishna way of life from every angle-it is perfect. Try to impress this intelligent class of men, give them nice debate, answer all questions nicely, distribute profuse prasadam, chant and dance nicely, and invite them to join us to get the perfection of their education, the Supreme knowledge."
