Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute was founded in the year 1924 by Rev. Swami Kuvalayananda and since then has been striving to spread the message of Yoga throughout the world. It is spread over 160 acres of lush green land including the mountain area. Kaivalyadhama was declared an institute of higher learning in Yoga in the year 1962 by the the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. It has permanent recognition from Pune University for research. In the year 2004, the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India affirmed it as a National Resource Centre for Introduction of Yoga in schools. The institute works through its five departments, i.e The Scientific Research Deptt., Philosophico-Literary Research Deptt., Gordhandas Seksaria College of Yoga and Cultural Synthesis, Central Administrative Deptt., and SADT Gupta Yogic Hospital and Health Care Centre.
