In this marble sculpture, fire is given form and stilled. The artist captures the essence of flame, that most elusive and restless of elements, in a medium that is its opposite: cold, enduring stone. Yet within the marble’s smooth, rising curves, the flame continues to move.
The three spiraling tongues of fire seem to dance upward, as if caught mid-breath, their motion suspended in eternity.
This play of contradiction- fluidity in solidity, warmth in whiteness, motion in stillness is what lends the piece its quiet power.
Each curve bends naturally, as if guided by an unseen breeze, while the veined texture of the marble mimics the subtle flicker of light within fire.
The base, solid and textured, grounds the otherwise weightless ascent, echoing the moment when transformation begins, when matter turns to energy, or the spiritual rises from the material.
“The Frozen Flame” is both a study in form and a meditation on paradox. It speaks of energy arrested, of time held still- an invocation of Agni, the eternal flame that purifies, illuminates, and connects earth to heaven. Through stone, the artist captures not just the look of fire, but its living spirit.
