M. Singh’s painting - My Dream City, an acrylic on canvas, is a touching homage to the colorful metropolis called Mumbai, commonly known as the City of Dreams. The sky is painted with various bright colors, blue, white, green, and orange, to bring the sense of multiculturalism that the city nurtures.
The city’s signature feature, a chaotic environment full of buildings and trees sprouting from here and there, is depicted on one side of the canvas. However, the serene sea, as well as the renowned Mumbai-Worli Sea Link on the other side, epitomizes the calmness and composure of the city.
The bridge, used as an illustration, is a powerful symbol revealing the unrelenting endeavor of the city of Mumbai to unite everybody despite separating the tranquility from the commotion. The concept of “my dream city” is based on the idea that, on the one hand, there is a fierce struggle in Mumbai for something better, and on the other, it has its peaceful and serene moments.
