Art in India has been intimately concerned with the experience of 'ramanyata'- the beautiful. It is said to release the flow of creative energies in a person's Being. It constitutes the core of the aesthetic state which vitalizes the individual consciousness of man. An artists' work is an explosion of the human spirit- revealing beauty and bliss.

This exquisite style by Gopal Kumawat is known as 'nimgalam', literally half pen in which this artist of consummate skill has produced a marvelous drawing washed with faintest suggestion of colour in an almost monochrome palette. The beautiful woman in 'shringar' is helped by her sakhi in making her look more beautiful. The artist has refrained from adding the friend that would have lessened the impact a single portrait conveys and thus suggested her presence by the two hands assisting with the jewellery. Her beauty has made her self assured and the smile depicts her satisfaction. She puts kohl in her eyes with a stick, as she dreams about the one she is getting dressed to meet. Her stone studded jewellery, though exquisite, is not a patch on her natural beauty. The movement of the hands and modelling of each finger is done very carefully. The strands of hair curl and cup her face on both sides.

The artist has created a wonder piece by careful use of powerful lines and thin layers of pigment of appropriate hues.
