11" Nataraja - Dancing Lord Shiva Brass Statue

$185

Shiva's cosmic dance symbolizes the five facets of divine sovereignty over the universe: creation, preservation, annihilation, illusion, and grace. This Nataraja statue in Brass is a tribute to the Tandava of Lord Shiva. Here in this statue, he stands on the demon Apasmara, eradicating the darkness from the world. As he dances, he plays the Damru, he holds the agni in the other hand while a snake coils around the Damru. His matted locks flow in all directions while the river Ganga and the crescent moon try and hold on to his Jata to survive this moment. This fabulous moment is encased inside the fire aureole. This brass statue is not a simple piece of art but a gentle reminder that Lord Shiva is there to help you when you are surrounded by darkness from all sides.

The Cosmic Dancer

Behold the captivating representation of Shiva, the divine cosmic dancer, brought to life in radiant brass. This meticulously crafted statue captures the very essence of creation and destruction, portraying Shiva as Nataraja, the Lord of Dance. Every detail, from the flowing locks of hair to the intricate detailing of the aureole, speaks volumes of the rich Hindu artistic tradition. Measuring 11.7 x 9.8 x 3.5 inches, this impressive statue serves as a reminder of the cyclical nature of existence, beautifully embodying the powerful concepts of transformation and renewal.

The Significance of the Dance

The image of Nataraja is far more than just a visually stunning sculpture; it is a profound symbol laden with layers of meaning. The dance of Shiva, the *Tandava*, is said to be the source of all movement in the universe. With each step, he initiates the rhythm of creation, preservation, and ultimately, destruction – making way for new beginnings. The ring of fire, or *prabha mandala*, that surrounds Shiva represents the endless cycle of time and the boundless expanse of the universe. Within this fiery embrace, Shiva's dance signifies the constant interplay of opposing forces, the harmonious balance that sustains cosmic order.

Symbolism in Form

Observe the graceful pose of Shiva, his right foot crushing the demon Apasmara, a symbol of ignorance and ego. This vanquishing of ignorance allows enlightenment to blossom. His upper right hand holds the *damaru*, a drum whose rhythmic beats initiate the creation of the universe. The lower right hand is in the *abhaya mudra*, a gesture of fearlessness and protection, bestowing blessings upon his devotees. In his upper left hand, he carries the *agni*, the fire that will ultimately consume the universe in cosmic dissolution. The lower left hand points towards his raised foot, offering refuge and liberation to those who seek it. Adorning his hair are the crescent moon, symbolic of Shiva's control over time, and the river Ganga, who descended from the heavens to reside in his matted locks. Each element of this iconic form tells a story, a tale of divine power, wisdom, and grace.

A Timeless Piece

Cast in brass, an alloy revered for its durability and lustrous finish, this depiction of Nataraja is designed to endure through generations. The warm, golden hue of the brass accentuates the intricate details, enhancing the statue's visual impact. Whether gracing your home altar, meditation space, or art collection, this depiction of Shiva as Nataraja will serve as a constant source of inspiration and a reminder of the profound mysteries of the universe. Place it where its beauty and symbolism can be contemplated and admired.
